Jen Mutas started with the BC Jr A Lacrosse league last season when she was brought on as a volunteer writer. Now a graduate of the Broadcast Journalism course at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, Jen has decided to continue her pursuit for a sports journalism career.

After playing many seasons of soccer, baseball and volleyball, sports seemed like a natural path for Jen.

After graduating high school, Jen packed her bags and moved to Dublin Ireland for a change of scenery. She got a job in a sports bar and got immersed in soccer, rugby, Gaelic football and hurling.

When she came back to Canada, Jen decided it was time to get her post secondary education and applied for the Journalism program at BCIT. In her two years in the program she had the opportunity to do an internship at the Score television network in Toronto, and spent seven weeks helping out with various shows at the station.

No surprise, she loved her experience, and hopes to make it in the sports business one day.

Jen is excited to return to the Jr A league for a second year and is happy the season is finally underway. She says writing for the Jr. A league's website is just the opportunity needed to advance her education, and get a feel for the sports broadcasting industry.
